Contemporary Wedding Photoshoot Inspired by Enduring Native American Traditions

As a Native Oklahoman and Muscogee-Creek, I felt immense pride and a profound connection to my ancestry when asked to help design the florals for this styled shoot. It beautifully captured the essence of my shared Native American heritage with other Oklahoma tribes and served as a deeply heartfelt artistic expression, honoring the traditions and cultural richness. Just as the Choctaw models depicted here, it's vital for every couple to weave their shared cultural heritage into their wedding celebrations.

Thoughtfully crafted details pay homage to our indigenous roots, and the color palette, reminiscent of the earth's natural hues, echoed the vibrant landscapes of Oklahoma. Rich tones of warm browns, earthy greens, and deep oranges blended harmoniously, evoking a sense of unity and deep-rooted spirituality.

The floral arrangements were a testament to the beauty and significance of nature in our culture. Delicate wildflowers, symbolic of resilience and adaptability, gracefully intertwined with traditional blooms native to our land. Using traditional materials such as feathers and natural elements like cedar and sweetgrass added an authentic touch, further connecting us to our ancestral heritage.

Intricate beadwork, meticulously handcrafted, adorned the garments, showcasing the intricate artistry passed down through generations. Love was in full bloom as Sarah, my youngest daughter, exchanged vows in a picturesque wedding at the enchanting Dream Point Ranch. Nestled amidst breathtaking landscapes, Sarah's special day was a true celebration of love, artistry, and the magic of flowers.

The color palette of the day was a captivating symphony of purples. From soft lavender to rich plum, these hues adorned every corner, creating an ethereal ambiance that whispered romance.
